In 1904 the biologist René Quinton scientifically proved the organic link between seawater and blood plasma.
That same year he published the founding scientific work on the therapeutic benefits of seawater: “Seawater; organic medium”. He put forward the hypothesis that the first living cell came from a marine environment and deduced that the human organism should immediately benefit from a dose of seawater that contains the original saline concentration, a vital medium for cells.
René Quinton advocated a therapy he named “the marine method” which used diluted seawater. He opened dispensaries where thousands of children suffering from gastro-enteritis (the bane of the era) were cured.
After many years of work, once completely satisfied with his working method, he patented his formula and registered his product under the name “Quinton’s plasma”.
