The professional syndicate

FRANCE THALASSO : Official Syndicate of Thalassotherapy in France.

In 1986, in response to the development of centres in France, doctors, scientists and managers of the thalassotherapy institute created the International Thalassotherapy Federation.

On the 1st of February 2008 the International Thalassotherapy Federation and the National Thalassotherapy professional syndicate joined under one entity: France Thalasso.

An organization working to ensure respect for the “thalassotherapy” name and the fundamental values of thalassotherapy: the use of natural seawater and exceptional seaside location. For the public and official organisations France Thalasso represents the thalassotherapy centres that adhere to the quality charter.

France Thalasso comprises of three distinct committees managed by known and respected professionals:

“Sea and health” committee

- In charge of the syndicate’s communication.
- They worked on Strengthening Thalassotherapy’s identity through the promotion of seawater’s benefits and properties.

“Scientific and sustainable development” committee where doctors and seawater specialists develop:

- A ‘ Scientific library’ containing all documentation relating to the sea and the benefits of seawater.
- New products and equipment in the aim of modernizing seawater use.
- Studies on seawater and the profession.

“Social” Committee who set up:

- A National Collective Labour Agreement for Thalassotherapy (the profession’s social code).
- A Professional Qualification Certificate (CQP) Hydro-therapist/hydro-technician.
- Other qualifications for careers in Thalassotherapy.
- A Thalassotherapy centre management degree at the Lycée Hôtelier François Rabelais de Thalence, University of Bordeaux 2. Starting at the beginning of the academic year 2009.
